By optimizing systems, improving patient outcomes, and lowering costs, automation and digitalization can be a solution to many of the healthcare challenges in 2020. However, the healthcare industry isn’t the most flexible and companies sometimes can’t keep up with changing needs of the patients and market situation. The startups are able to fill in this gap thanks to their agility and innovative thinking. Here are 3 startups reimagining the lines of the traditional healthcare experience that participate in AUTOMA + Healthcare Automation and Digitalization Congress 2021.

Health monitoring and disease prevention: Chronolife

The industry is moving from treatment to disease prevention and the popularity of health gadgets and smartphone apps is growing fast. Chronolife is an AI digital health startup that develops wearable technology for predictive diagnosis. One of their innovations is Nexkin, the T-shirt with 10 biometric scanners monitoring 6 key physiological parameters such as electrocardiogram, abdominal and thoracic breathing, body temperature, physical activity, and pulmonary impedance. The device is washable and has a 24-hour battery life. Data gathered by ECG sensors is transmitted to the user's smartphone via Bluetooth. To analyse this data and get actionable health insights Chronolife developed the algorithms called HOTS (Hierarchy Of event-based Time Surfaces). Nexkin can be used to monitor patients' health, reduce treatment costs, and boost the accuracy and utility of pharma clinical trials.

Data analysis: Aspect Analytics

Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a powerful tool that opens new possibilities for healthcare research. For example, it can help to identify the link between the mechanism of disease or failed drug response to the genome of an individual. To capitalize on data generated from MSI experiments appropriate bioinformatics tools are essential. But in addition to algorithmic challenges, what can slow down the experiments is the lack of specific software suitable for multidisciplinary teams working with MSI technology. Aspect Analytics designs and implements intelligent platform solutions for MSI-based applications that are tailored to a given application’s needs. Their technologies also facilitate leveraging potential synergies of MSI with other biomedical technologies.

Healthcare availability: HospitHome

Sometimes a doctor’s visit might be unavailable or inconvenient and what’s more, some industry groups have predicted a shortage of around 100,000 doctors by 2030. The use of telemedicine can help in a big way. HospitHome provides services for remote assistance customized according to the patient’s needs. They include medical teleconsultation, remote health monitoring, the possibility to receive the prescription of medications and their delivery. Telemedicine is also a tool for combating COVID-19 pandemic. When the COVID-19 health crisis emerged, HospitHome focused on its goal to reduce the number of hospitalizations through the remote monitoring of signs of COVID-19 positive patients and succeeded.

Listen to the presentations from Aspect Analytics, Chronolife, HospitHome and other revolutionary startups in a special session at AUTOMA+ Healthcare edition Congress. Healthcare Automation and Digitalization Congress is gathering decision-makers from the industry to discuss innovative solutions and business practises.
